THE MANSELL COLLECTION ANNOUNCES REDUCTION IN OPERATIONS
The Mansell Collection has announced that it will be reducing the scale of its operations following a sharp and sustained decrease in demand across the motorcycle market.
After several years of building and expanding its motorcycle offering in Jersey, the business has experienced a significant change in market conditions, with substantially reduced levels of consumer demand and discretionary spending.
As a result, The Mansell Collection is restructuring its operation and reducing a number of areas of the business to reflect the realities of the current market.
This will include a significant reduction in motorcycle stockholding and a more focused offering across the products and services the company provides going forward.
Remaining motorcycle stock will continue to be offered at substantially reduced prices as part of the stock reduction programme, while workshop capacity is also expected to become more limited as the business transitions to its new structure.
Greg Mansell said:
“Jersey has been fortunate to retain a level of motorcycle manufacturer representation that is rare for an island of our size. We have worked extremely hard over the years to build an offering that we believe the Island deserves.
“The concern now is not simply about one business or another. With the sharp and sustained decline in demand we are currently experiencing, it is becoming increasingly difficult to see how the present level of manufacturer representation can be maintained.
“What we ultimately stand to lose is choice, local stock, manufacturer representation, servicing, expertise and support for riders in Jersey. Once that infrastructure disappears, it is incredibly difficult to rebuild.
“We certainly don’t want to see Jersey follow the trajectory of smaller neighbouring islands where manufacturer representation and locally available stock have gradually disappeared. We hope the current market is temporary, but we also have to respond responsibly to the conditions we are facing today.”
The Mansell Collection will therefore continue to reduce its stockholding and overall operating footprint over the coming months, with its future offering shaped by the level of demand within the local market.
Customers considering the purchase of a motorcycle are encouraged to take advantage of the current stock reduction programme while motorcycles remain available, and customers requiring servicing, repairs or other workshop work are advised to book ahead as capacity is reduced.
The Mansell Collection would like to thank its customers, manufacturers, suppliers and the wider Jersey community for their continued support.
The changes are intended to create a smaller, more sustainable operation capable of responding to the current market while preserving as much of The Mansell Collection’s motorcycle offering and manufacturer representation as possible for the future.
